SMC: Why did you start cosplaying?
Tasha:
I first started cosplaying as my friend wanted to go to a convention for her birthday and we had recently found out that people often dress up at them so we also made some costumes and dressed up. I used to be a dancer and make my own costume to wear so I was already creative.

SMC: What was the first convention you attended in cosplay?
Tasha:
My first convention in Cosplay was Thought Bubble in Leeds.

SMC: What has been your most memorable convention moment?
Tasha:
My most memorable convention moment is definitely when I met Norman Reedus and he asked us our group for a selfie and then the next day I went to his table again and he said ‘Hey Tasha how you doing?’ I nearly died as I could not believe that he remembered my name! J

SMC: What is your favorite thing about cosplaying at a convention?
Tasha:
I love being in costume at conventions as people come up and chat and ask for photos and especially when little kids think I am the real character and get really excited I stay in character and am always happy to pose with them. And now that I privileged enough to be guesting more and more I really enjoy helping other people get into it by delivering panels and judging masquerades (which is really tough but so great to see everyone’s costumes)

SMC: Where can fans expect to see you next? (2018 Schedule?)
Tasha:
I do not know when my next event is right now as I am right in the middle of buying a place so once I have moved I will update everyone via my social media.

SMC: What cosplayers inspire you?
Tasha:
I am careful not to compare myself to other cosplayer or aspire to be like them as I think it is very easy to then start to feel down and not as good as them. I always like to create my costumes from the source photos/illustrations and make them fit me. I do look to other cosplayers for tips and tutorials though and Yaya Han is one I look to for sewing techniques, Alyson Tabbitha for Make up and accuracy and my BFF Tabitha Lyons is would be a first stop for advice on Props.

SMC: Which is your favorite cosplay you’ve created?
Tasha:
My favourite cosplay I created will always be Xena Warrior Princess and this is because I grew up watching the show and always wanted to be her and it was my first costume I ever made and I have upgraded it twice and have one more piece of the costume I still want to upgrade. I am also really loving my Enchantress Though as it is a much darker character than I usually Cosplay.

SMC: What cosplay are you best known for?
Tasha:
I think I am best known for my Xena Warrior Princess and Enchantress Cosplays but I guess other people are the ones who can tell you that.

SMC: If money was no object what would be your dream cosplay creation?
Tasha:
If money was no object then my dream creation would be the Elizabeth Taylor Cleopatra Costume – It still may be on my list one day but it’s equally about having the time to make it.

SMC: Do you have any new cosplays currently in the works?
Tasha:
I have a couple of cosplays in the works at the moment and the first one complete should be Starfire. I am sticking to only a couple of new ones this year as I have a lot of costumes that need to be repaired and need to do some photoshoots in them and making too many can feel like too much pressure sometimes.

SMC: What are your cosplay strengths?
Tasha: My cosplay strengths are sewing, fur work, painting and in character performance. I am also extremely good at researching where to source high quality materials at low-cut prices as I am on a tight budget. I am not the best prop maker but am very good at carving out of polystyrene, which is what I made my Nidalee Spear out of.

SMC: What’s one thing you wish you knew about cosplaying before you got started?
Tasha:
I guess all I could wish for is to know everything before I started but I don’t even know that now lol!

SMC: Any advice for people interested in cosplaying for the first time?
Tasha:
My advice to people who want to start cosplay would be ensure that your first character is one you really love and can relate to as you will feel super comfortable wearing it and it will be more natural for you to try to be like the character if you want to compete/perform. Also ask other cosplayers for advice if you are stuck as we don’t bite J

SMC: What do you do in the real world for a job?
Tasha:
I do work a 9-5 job as a Personal Assistant 5 days a week.

SMC: What is something your fans may not know about you?
Tasha:
My fans may not know that I have a Certificate of Higher Education in Natural Sciences and have a passion for animals and conservation.

SMC: What part of “geekdom” is you favorite avenue of entertainment (i.e. comics, movies, video games, anime, etc?).
Tasha:
I am a big gamer but also really love sci-fi, fantasy and horror movies. I also really live beautiful artwork and seeing movie props at conventions.

SMC: Any favorite TV shows, movies or cartoons?
Tasha:
I am currently addicted to the Walking Dead but feel a little let down by the current series L and I have always been a massive X-files fan and was super excited when they announced the new series and am already hooked back! Also I always watch re-runs of Stargate SG1 again and again lol!

SMC: What is your gaming system of choice?
Tasha: I currently have a PS4 and it is the first PlayStation I have ever had as before that I was into Nintendo but they really haven’t bought out any decent consoles since the classic N64!

SMC: What are you currently playing / upcoming video game releases?
Tasha:
I am currently playing a lot of Overwatch and am also working through the Doom 2016 campaign (yes I am late but enjoying it) and I will always dip in and out of Mortal Kombat – Finish him!
