The following interview has been translated from Spanish to English

SMC: Why did you start cosplaying?
It was for an old friend. Many years ago (2005 to be exact) I attended the Manga Salon in Barcelona with some friends, I at that time had no idea that the cosplay existed. They encouraged me to be a group of Arina Tanemura comics. Our obvious cosplays were not good at all, rather rather homemade, without wigs … Noobs total, but we had a really good time. It was from that moment when I began to be interested, although until 2007 I did not seriously start with this hobby that is now my life.

SMC: What was the first convention you attended in cosplay?
My first convention that I attended with cosplay was at the Salón del Manga 2005 in Barcelona, Spain.

SMC: What has been your most memorable convention moment?
I think I could not choose a specific moment, for me to see and be with the people I’ve met thanks to this hobby is a memorable moment, and especially to be able to attend with my friends or my partner.

SMC: What is your favorite thing about cosplaying at a convention?
What I like most is to be able to go to your favorite characters, finally enjoy the effort and work dedicated. Look at yourself in the mirror and see yourself characterized by them, it’s just great. And above all, share it with your friends.

SMC: What cosplayers inspire you?
Too many haha Tasha de Spiral Cats, Nikita, Enji Knight … But the most brilliant Kinpatsu! She is an inspiration for me, as well as great help with her tutorials and advice, I admire her very much!

SMC: Which is your favorite cosplay you’ve created?
All of Yoko Littner from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I have 4 cosplays of her (and they will not be the only ones) and I love them. She is my favorite character among all of us so I try 200% when it comes to cosplay her.

Go ahead with it! If you really encourage them do not hesitate to start, do not fear not knowing how to do something at first or risk, it’s all a matter of practice and effort and in the end you will see how it is very fun and satisfying. You should not care what they say or say, just think about what they want and go ahead with the cosplay!

SMC: What cosplay are you best known for?
I’m sure that my cosplay of Yoko Littner hahaha, the truth is quite known. In fact, many people have been telling me for years that I should change my nickname Hini Tsuburagi to Yoko Tsuburagi, since they consider me to be a character who likes me a lot and represents me a lot.

SMC: If money was no object what would be your dream cosplay creation?
Iron Man!!! I do not usually do crossplay, not to say never haha, but one of my cosplays dreamed is Tony Stark Iron Man. God, I’d love to do it, it’s an awesome armor. Even that part of money for so much material, I would need to practice a lot more armor haha

SMC: Do you have any new cosplays currently in the works?
Sii! I’m finishing my Boosette cosplay of the new Mario Bros inspired designs of which will soon be a photo session with my friend Alicia Migueles, and Alexa Bliss from WWE RAW. Even when I finish with them I have other plans of which I am already collecting materials, such as the golden and brown costume of the movie Wonder Woman and Red Sonja among others.

SMC: What are your cosplay strengths? (Tailoring, fabric painting, worbla armor, etc)
I guess I would tailor, the armor theme is not good at all hahaha. Maybe small parts like my Wonder Woman cosplays, but creating something big of 0 is not good for me. And also the painting theme, it costs me a lot the brush and many times I have to repeat certain parts of a suit. Despite this I am proud of my first armor, I did not think I was capable of doing something like that but with effort everything is possible (or almost haha)

SMC: What’s one thing you wish you knew about cosplaying before you got started?
The money hahahaha Despite being a great hobby with which you learn many things such as tailoring, hairdressing, crafts etc … If it is true that it is a very expensive hobby, it requires saving a lot of money and managing it head-on when looking for materials. It would have been nice if I had been warned about that and the back pain hahaha

SMC: Any advice for people interested in cosplaying for the first time?
Go ahead with it! If you really encourage them do not hesitate to start, do not fear not knowing how to do something at first or risk, it’s all a matter of practice and effort and in the end you will see how it is very fun and satisfying. You should not care what they say or say, just think about what they want and go ahead with the cosplay!

SMC: What do you do in the real world for a job?
I work as a Pharmacy Technician in a Pharmacy in my city. I have only 9 months but I am very happy because it is what I studied, it took me to wait 3 years to be able to work in a pharmacy after obtaining my degree, and go through certain exploitative works. But finally I can work on it.

SMC: What is something your fans may not know about you? Other hobbies?
Sing hahaha, I do not believe that my fans or people who do not know me and still know about this hobby. The unfortunate thing is that I sing very bad hahaha but I like it, it is impossible to remain silent when listening to a song that I know and if I also like it then I will surely sing. I also like to watch series and collect Funko Pop! And stuffed animals haha

SMC: What part of “geekdom” is you favorite avenue of entertainment (i.e. comics, movies, video games, anime, etc?)
Video games, movies and comics. Many years ago I was more interested in anime and manga, but over time I was changing tastes, Marvel was to blame. In fact I think the last anime I saw was Kill the Kill, I’ve tried many times to see new animes but they do not interest me … they bore me. Yes, I’m left with the manga and anime of yesteryear.

SMC: Any favorite TV shows, movies or cartoons?
I love movies! I have thousands of favorite movies, but number one is The Goonies.
In terms of TV series I’m still Big Bang Theory, iZombie, Supernatural … Even as the anime, I prefer the old series like Friends
