Location: Southern Florida, USA
SMC: Why did you start cosplaying?
MC: I started cosplaying after my first convention last summer. I had an art booth and I thought it would be fun to wear a cool outfit like everyone else. So I started off easy and made a couple simple ones just to wear at my booth for fun!
SMC: What was the first convention where you cosplayed?
MC: I think the first one I really cosplayed at was the first Ultracon in 2013. I was Rainbow Dash, my first cosplay!
SMC: What has been your most memorable convention moment so far?
MC: I’m going to have to say Animate! Miami for so many reasons. It was my first time as a cosplay guest, I got to host the Cosplay Contest for the convention and for the filming of Heroes of Cosplay, and I had a blast with my friends.
SMC: What is your favorite thing about cosplaying at a convention?
MC: Hmm… That’s hard haha. I like how excited people get when they see you cosplaying a character they love. It’s always a good way to connect with people. You find a lot of people who are interested in the same things you like through cosplay since you are wearing your fandom haha.
SMC: Related to conventions, where can fans expect to see you next?
MC: The only event I am locked into at the moment is Florida Supercon in July! Supercon was the first convention I ever went to, so I can’t wait to go back! I’ll post my upcoming events on my Facebook as they come to me!
SMC: What cosplayers inspire you?
MC: I lurk a lotttt of cosplayers haha, both on deviantART and Facebook. I really like Yaya Han, Vampy, Courtoon, and Li Kovacs. But I’m really inspired by any cosplayer who is passionate about their craft and has fun making cool stuff.
SMC: Which is your favorite Cosplay you’ve created?
MC: That’s so hard haha. I really enjoy Supergirl, she is the most popular I think. Supergirl and Cammy White, for sure. But I am making a new costume right now that might surpass both of them!
SMC: What cosplay are you best known for?
MC: Most likely Supergirl. I wore her for the 2013 Cosplay Calendar and I’ve worn her to a lot of events, interviews, and to the Animate! Miami Cosplay Contest this year. I fixed her up recently so she is even better than before! I can’t wait to wear her soon!
SMC: If money was no object what would be your dream cosplay creation?
MC: I would looove to make a fully armoured Princess Zelda. The thought of how beautiful it would be brings a tear to my eye haha.
SMC: Do you have any new cosplays currently in the works?
MC: Yes! One super serious one and one super goofy one haha. I’m working on Ravager from DC and the Postman from the Legend of Zelda series. They are quite different but I like having really intense cosplays and more casual ones.
SMC: What is something your fans may not know about you? Other hobbies
MC: Well I really like to draw and paint. I’m also really into plants, and I’m a bio major. I collect exotic reptiles and amphibians and raise birds. That’s sounds about right haha.
SMC: What part of “geekdom” is you favorite avenue of entertainment (i.e. comics, movies, video games, anime, etc?).
MC: I’m really into manga, actually. And after that, anime and video games.
SMC: What mangas are you currently addicted to?
MC: I’ve been reading One Piece for a while now and it’s just the most amazing adventure ever. I’m also currently reading All You Need is Kill and its really got me hooked! I read Attack on Titan too and Silver Spoon. My favorite manga ever is Fullmetal Alchemist! All the feels.
SMC: Any favorite TV shows, movies or cartoons?
MC: I really enjoy superhero cartoons from the nineties. I also like watching anime but I feel like it’s just so much more efficient for me to bring a manga with me and read it rather than watch. But I still end up watching anyway haha.
SMC: What is your gaming system of choice?
MC: I’ve always been a huuuge Nintendo fan, and I feel like the Gamecube was one of the best systems around. Super Mario Sunshine is probably my favorite game ever. I replay it every other summer, its perfect.
SMC: What are you currently playing / upcoming video game releases?
MC: I haven’t been playing much lately, the last game I bought was the most recent Pokémon game. But I am definitely looking forward to the new Smash!
SMC: Any comments or words for the fans?
MC: Ah yes, I just want to say thank you for all your kind words! It’s wonderful to receive encouragement from people, and I get a ton or nice comments and sweet messages. They totally make my day. I love answering your comments and seeing you guys at cons, it’s the best. Thank you so much!
