SMC: Why did you start cosplaying ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: When I went to my very first con, I remember the joy of running after my favorites characters for a pic, and saw other people doing the same. The happiness in their eyes, the memories,… It makes me feel so happy that I decided, in 2011, to start wearing a cosplay. Just to make other people happy to see their favorite character in real life! Sharing happiness as no price!
SMC: What was the first convention you attended in cosplay ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: It was Made In Asia, in Brussels. And it was amazing. I still go there each year, with a new cosplay. Kinda like a tradition, now!
SMC: What has been your most memorable convention moment ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I got many! The first one was when I’ve been chosen by Smily Panda, a really talented videographer to be a part of his video. I was a huge fan of his work and being on it was insane! Today, I still love being filmed. It such an awesome memory that I’m always proud to show!
Another amazing moment is when people recognize your character (or even your cosplayer name!) and shout it at the con, running after you for a pic. It means a lot to me, like : “yes. I succeed! I AM the character. I AM his twin!” it means the goal has been reached.
SMC: Where can fans expect to see you next ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I never plan in advance where I go, but I never miss Made In Asia (Brussels). This year, I’ll try to go in French, Dutch and German cons, I really want to travel more! 😀
SMC: Which cosplayers inspire you ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I’m following a lof of other cosplays and a lot of them inspire me. If I have to name 5 of them, I’ll say : Jessica Nigri, Kamui Cosplay, Maul Cosplay, Joanie Brosas and Infamous Harley Queen !
SMC: Which is your favorite cosplay you’ve created ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: Always the last one, because it always the most improved. So this time its Elesis (Crimson Avenger) but next, it will be my HUGE 2018 secret project! Haha!
SMC: What Cosplay are you best known for ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: Its an hard question! But I guess its probably Elesis because a lot of Elsword fans followed me just right after her first pic revealed, but it can be Mirajane, too, because some people in Belgium known me as “the girl who cosplay Mirajane in Satan Soul version” even if it was 3 years ago ! haha
SMC: Do you have any new cosplays currently in the works ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: Yes I have ! But it’s a secret ! I plan to make two cosplays for the moment : a huge armored one and a second one, more “classic” but kinda sexy and dark at the same time! Interesting, isn’t it ?
SMC: What are your cosplay strengths ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: Its hard for me to answer at this question, because I’m not working alone (I’m helped by my mom and my boyfriend) so I don’t see me as really “talented” person. But I guess, I’m better at armor/props making, painting, sculpting and making details and… I’m really bad at sewing!
SMC: What’s one thing you wish you knew about cosplaying before you got started ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I’ll say “sometimes you’ll be disappointed, but its not your fault, its just impossible too make in real life” because, when you are like me, a really “accurate type” cosplayer its so frustrating to see/know/learn that what you had planned to do couldn’t be made in real life (like “floating” stuff, or huge sword which is not TOO heavy for you, etc.) and sometimes you have to modified the outfit to make it doable (like armor, to be able to bend your knee, etc.) and I just hate that! I want it to make it perfect but gravity/body shape/coziness are against you!
SMC: Any Advice for people interested in cosplaying for the first time ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: If you want to be an “accurate type” cosplayer, I suggest you to make a LOT (I mean A LOT) of research before going in your plan. Make a list of what you need and see if you really have the money for it to make it perfect. Try and try again and again until its identic and NEVER give up.
And for sure, and thats for every type of cosplay, have fun and do what you want no matter what !
SMC: What do you do in real world for a job ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I’m actually studying journalism at university mixed with an history of art formation and Japanese courses. If you’re are studying like me and want to cosplay, be strong, it will be hard to study for exams and crafting at the same time, but if I can do it, you can too!
SMC: What is something your fans may not know about your ? other hobbies ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I am super nearsighted! And that’s a problem because I never wear my glasses when I’m wearing a cosplay so I may not recognize my own friend haha.
Instead of that, I like to draw, I’m a HUGE fan of art and love spending time in museum or church. I like to sing, too, even if I don’t think that I’m a really good singer and I LOVE pastry. Any cakes, any pies, any doughnut, pasty is life!!
SMC: What part of “geekdom” is your favorite avenue of entertainment ?
Draw Me A Cosplay: I’m a videogame/anime person. I like reading manga, too but I don’t have a lot of time since I start university. My favorite game of the moment? Black Desert Online and my favorite anime ? One Piece (because I just start to watch it! Yep. I’m late.) Oh! And I’m a PC gamer (even if sometimes, I play on 3DS).
