SMC: Why did you start cosplaying?
Coleman Cosplays: I started cosplaying when my friend Will-O-Wisps dragged me along to a convention in one of her vocaloid cosplays. I fell in love not only with the convention itself, but the process of getting ready with friends and doing photoshoots.

SMC: What was the first convention you attended in cosplay?
Coleman Cosplays: Mini Animania at Redfern (rest in peace)

SMC: What has been your most memorable convention moment?
Coleman Cosplays: At Comic Con I had a cosplayer come up to me, saying how much I helped her with her Ahri cosplay through my tutorials and that she admires my cosplays. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside :3

SMC: What is your favorite thing about cosplaying at a convention?
Coleman Cosplays: Having random strangers running up to you and saying how much they love your cosplay. It’s such a pure form of compliment and I love seeing peoples photos with me pop up all over the place.

SMC: Where can fans expect to see you next? (2016/17 Schedule?)
Coleman Cosplays: RTX at the beginning of February and after that….. well I don’t really plan that far ahead 😛 I’m so unorganized!!!

SMC: What cosplayers inspire you?
Coleman Cosplays: A few of the cosplayers that inspire me is Jannet Incosplay and Alyson Tabbitha. They are so amazing at their craft and innovative with how they create shapes in their costumes

SMC: Which is your favorite cosplay you’ve created?
Coleman Cosplays: My favorite cosplay so far would be my Ahri cosplay. I mean it’s a world of pain and I have to go the chiropractor afterwards but I am so proud of how it looks.

SMC: What cosplay are you best known for?
Coleman Cosplays: Ahri from League of Legends would probably be my most iconic “Coleman” cosplay

SMC: If money was no object what would be your dream cosplay creation?
Coleman Cosplays: My dream cosplay would be Lissandra from League of Legends with full LED plexiglass shards and glowing hair and everything you could ever want in a cosplay

SMC: Do you have any new cosplays currently in the works?
Coleman Cosplays: Ive just finnish a Snowbunny Nidalee cosplay and I’m in the process of finishing a CC cosplay from Code Geass, Mako from Kill la kill, Violet from the Incredibles and my major project for the year is Widowmaker from Overwatch

SMC: What are your cosplay strengths? (Tailoring, fabric painting, worbla armor, in- character performance etc.)
Coleman Cosplays: My strengths would probably be fluking my cosplays. Honestly most my cosplays I wing and it somehow turns out ok!!! I mean I’m reasonable at sewing and foam work but a lot of my work is so sketchy and purely from trial and error.

SMC: What’s one thing you wish you knew about cosplaying before you got started?
Coleman Cosplays: I wish I knew how much freaking space you need to store your cosplays!!! My god so much stuff.

SMC: Any advice for people interested in cosplaying for the first time?
Coleman Cosplays: It’s a bit of a downer but only make and plan what you can afford. I’ve seen so many people land themselves in trouble spending money they don’t have or having to half finish something or do a cheap cosplay that doesn’t live up to their expectations. So only make something if you can commit financially to it. If you can’t, put it on the back burner and do a simpler cosplay first.

SMC: What do you do in the real world for a job?
Coleman Cosplays: I’m actually a Medical Biotechnology 3rd year Student at university and I work casually doing supermarket shelf packing

SMC: What is something your fans may not know about you? Other hobbies?
Coleman Cosplays: I’m pretty much an open book but apart from cosplay I do pole fitness and I used to be a state representative figure skater. Obviously I play video games but mostly MOBA style games (I actually hate story mode games)

SMC: What part of “geekdom” is you favorite avenue of entertainment (i.e. comics, movies, video games, anime, etc?).
Coleman Cosplays: VIDEO GAMES!!! I mean game designers these days make it too easy to fan girl over their characters design and intriguing gameplay. I also love anime my favorite probably being Kill la Kill.

SMC: What is your gaming system of choice?
Coleman Cosplays: PC master race, always!!!

SMC: What are you currently playing / upcoming video game releases?
Coleman Cosplays: I mostly play League of Legends and a bit of Overwatch. It really depends what mood I’m in on the day
