SMC: Why did you start cosplaying?
Illisia Cosplay :
When I was a child, I loved to mix up some fabrics and dress up like my favourite characters, I even tried to imitate Pan (Dragon Ball) in both her hairstyle and clothes; and that love remained as I grew up. So when I discovered that there where a whole community of people who had the same fandoms as me and that they dressed up as their favourite characters… I was delighted! I couldn’t say no to cosplaying.

SMC: What was the first convention you cosplay’d?
Illisia Cosplay: It was a little convention in my town called “Expocomic”, back in 2007.

SMC: What has been your most memorable convention moment?
Illisia Cosplay: I can choose just one. I’ve had so many amazing moments, hanging out with friends, meeting some of my inspirational cosplayers, wining my first cosplay contest with an amazing group of friends… For me, every convention ends up being special and memorable.

SMC: What is your favorite thing about cosplaying at a convention?
Illisia Cosplay:
Messing around, interpret my character, interact with strangers and meet new people!

SMC: Where can fans expect to see you next? (2015 Schedule?)
Illisia Cosplay:
Mainly in Spain conventions (Expomanga in Madrid, Cometcon in Oviedo, Salón del Manga in Barcelona) but I also hope to visit some conventions abroad, maybe some in London or Gamescom in Germany.

SMC: What cosplayers inspire you?
Illisia Cosplay: There are many cosplayers that are an inspiration for me, the list would be reaaaally long. But if I had to mention some: Kamui, Lightning, Enayla, Elffi, Calssara, LadyLemon, Okageo…

SMC: Which is your favorite cosplay you’ve created?
Illisia Cosplay: Tyrande Whisperwind from World of Warcraft. It was a cosplay dream come true and even if for some people it may not be too complicated, for me was a great achievement. It was my first time ever sewing a dress and I needed to learn a lot during the process, so I was really proud of the result.

SMC: What cosplay are you best known for?
Illisia Cosplay: Valkyrie Leona from League of Legends, probably. It was my third cosplay or so, but the first complete armour I made.

SMC: If money was no object what would be your dream cosplay creation?
Illisia Cosplay: Kerrigan from Starcraft, Aether Wing Kayle from League of Legends, Eir from GuildWars2 with genuine leather…

SMC: Do you have any new cosplays currently in the works?
Illisia Cosplay: Yes! Hextech Janna (from League of Legends) and Nova (Starcraft/ Heroes of the Storm). However, I still don’t have pretty clear the rest of my cosplay plans for this year.

SMC: What do you do in the real world for a job? (Be specific as you like)
Illisia Cosplay:
I’m finishing my university degree and meanwhile I work some hours as teacher. In the near future I would like to work as audiovisual translator, especially in the field of videogames.

SMC: What is something your fans may not know about you? Other hobbies?\
Illisia Cosplay:
I used to sing and play a little of guitar, I even had a band! But I had to leave it because of the lack of time. Also, I love photography and literature, and I have written some brief stories, something very humble, just to have fun!

SMC: What part of “geekdom” is you favorite avenue of entertainment (i.e. comics, movies, video games, anime, etc?).
Illisia Cosplay: Probably videogames is the one I spend more time on, I prefer them because they are more “active”, but I also enjoy relaxing watching a movie or anime or reading a comic or manga. And when I get addicted to any of the previous… I can’t stop until I finish the entire series.

SMC: Any favorite TV shows, movies or cartoons?
Illisia Cosplay:
Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory, Castle, Pretty Little Liars, Adventure Time…

SMC: What is your gaming system of choice?
Illisia Cosplay:

SMC: What are you currently playing / upcoming video game releases?
Illisia Cosplay: World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, Smite, GuildWars 2… And I’m pretty excited about Overwatch, I can’t wait to play it!
